The three to four shift had very little rpm drop, and the switch to the "big hole" had a large rpm drop. It took a real horse to pull those trannies. The Tow/Haul mode primarily inhibits the lower gears from up-shifting to give you more acceleration power. Once you reach cruising speed, it may inhibit the transmission from shifting into overdrive (6 in mine and I believe 9 & 10 in the new 10-speeds).
