Yeah, 1-4 were much darker and gritty for lack of a better term, it gets so much more fantastical and lighter from 5-8. Don't get me wrong, mermaid phoebe was one of my favourite episodes but it lost some of its Charmed spark from then on, series 8 bought it back a little I loved the ended and how they tied everything up.
Both Piper and Phoebe are insufferably irritating in Seasons 5-8, but I'm gonna have to give the edge to Season 3-8 Phoebe. She's easily the worst Charmed One by far.
