Personally I think working on altissimo IF you use it is a good idea, and the first 3-4 overtones are useful, but getting a million overtones is just a party trick.Links have fairly large chambers in comparison to the standard. The only one that came close to my Yamaha was the Antiqua. The Selmers were on par with the Buffet-Cramons.

The 62 can be pretty bright depending on your disposition and the era of the sax. The 82Z is a darker sound than the 62 and blows a lot freer than the SX90. All 3 are good, usable saxes and solid for learning on. Lazarro Alto Saxophone. I got the Lazarro Alto sax for $250 bucks. I love it. I'm playing by myself mostly. I don't have the best sound on alto, but I like what this horn gives me. Really glad to have it. If you like the instrument and the instrument suits you, then stick with it.

To me the first modern sax would be the Selmer Mark 6/ Balanced Action (pretty much all modern saxophones are copies of either this or copies of Selmer's own Mark 6 copy, the Super Action 80).
