I found a 85 armour mastercraft bp right next to the artifact of the brute in a yellow crate. Tame a high lvl basilo and skill it in speed. Just swim by all the critters.

Not certain about that fight specifically but as a rule of thumb primative saddles are ok for gamma bosses if you have good fighters but still not great, you will likely lose some rexes but not all of them.
